Description
PALO ALTO, CA — Stanford Blood Center is hosting a blood drive on April 21 at the Northwest YMCA in Cupertino.
Organizers emphasized the ongoing need for blood donations, even during a pandemic. There are currently more than 200 surgeries per day at Stanford's partner hospitals, and blood donations are used to save about 12,000 lives a day, according to Phillip Martin, Stanford Blood Center Account Manager.
"It's the blood that we have readily available that allows us to save a life at a moment's notice, so we're urging the local community to please consider donating at the Northwest YMCA blood drive," Martin said in a news release. "All it takes is about an hour of your time, and you can help save the lives of multiple patients with a single donation."
The drive will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. next Wednesday at the YMCA, located at 20803 Alves Drive. Masks will be required and safety precautions will be in place throughout the blood donation process.
Donors are asked to make an appointment by clicking here or calling 888-723-7831. Walk-in availability may be limited.
