JOLIET, IL — An 18-year-old Joliet man was arrested Friday night after police say Dominick Martinez was found with a gun underneath his pillow during an emergency call. Martinez was later booked into the Will County Jail on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition and not having a Firearm Owner Identification card.
The incident that led to Martinez's arrest happened around 10:35 p.m.
Officers responded to a dwelling in the 3200 Price Court to assist the Joliet Fire Department for a report of a possible overdose, police said.
"Officers located Martinez on a bed being treated by paramedics. Officers observed the handle of a firearm protruding from under Martinez's pillow," police reports show.
Police recovered the gun as a Joliet Fire Department ambulance took Martinez to the AMITA Health St. Joseph Medical Center. He was moved to the county jail following his release from the hospital.
