GURNEE, IL — Six Flags Great America will reopen for the summer this week. Park officials recently announced the popular amusement park at 1 Great America Parkway in Gurnee will reopen on April 24. Hurricane Harbor, the accompanying water park, is set to open on May 29. The park will operate at 25% capacity and will use an online reservation system to dole out tickets and track attendance. Only credit cards or mobile payments will be allowed for parking and for payments at vendors inside the park. All guests over 2 years old and all team members will be required to wear face masks covering the nose and mouth throughout their time on the property. Masks can be removed in pools and on waterpark attractions. Other protocols in place include limiting the number of people on rides and leaving an empty seat in between guests; reducing capacity within the park and indoor shops, restaurants and service buildings; and enacting temperature checks for all guests and employees. Six Flags' comprehensive reopening plan was developed "in consultation with epidemiologists, meets or exceeds federal, state, and local guidelines for sanitization, hygiene, and social distancing protocols," according to the park's website. Season passes are available to buy and start at $59.99, and memberships start at $5.99 per month. More information is available on the Six Flags' website.
