WOODBURY, MN— Woodbury's City Council appointed three new police officers at their Wednesday meeting.
"This is always a time for us that is really positive and very exciting for everyone," Lee Vague, Woodbury's Public Safety Director/Police Chief said at the ceremony. "I also know that law enforcement is on a lot of people's minds right now in a way that's not so positive, and in a way that we really regret."
Vague said that the swearing-in ceremony is important in ensuring that Woodbury's police department is serving everybody "in the way they deserve to be served."
"We choose people that we know match our values, that want to be here, and tonight those people are going to stand here and swear that they will to the best of their ability they are going to help serve all people," Vague said.
The officers sworn in were:
Arturo Lopez, effective Thursday, April 15 Andrew Burt, effective Friday, April 16 Christopher Hoel, effective Saturday, April 17
