LOS ANGELES, CA — As the weekend wraps up, we've rounded up all the stories you may have missed over Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday. But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, Golden State residents should know that the state has at least partially vaccinated more than 50 percent of Californians 16 and older. And 1 in 4 adults in California are now fully vaccinated, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Sunday. Coronavirus cases have also remained low with hospitalizations down as well. "At the end of December, beginning of January, we had among the highest case rates, if not the highest case rates in the country," Dr. Timothy Brewer told Patch. Brewer is a professor of infectious diseases at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. "We're now in the bottom third, so we're doing well, relative to much of the country." Read more about California's progress here: Half Of Californians 16+ Are At Least Partially Vaccinated. What's more, some qualifying Californians who filed their 2020 taxes already have already begun receiving their Golden State Stimulus checks. Read more about that here.
