Position Title:Part-Time Junior High Math Teacher (Summer Employment) Division:The Outreach Community Center in Carol StreamThe Outreach Community Center in Carol Stream is a multi-purpose, neighborhood resource center serving a low-income, ethnically diverse neighborhood. Services include counseling, casework, mentoring, community development and after-school programs for children and youth. Job Responsibilities:The Junior High Math Teacher is responsible for teaching a classroom of up to 10 students, four days per week in the summer program. Duties include classroom instruction, conducting individual academic assessments for students along with goals for academic improvement; maintaining center-wide standard of classroom behavior within the classroom; and communicating to parents. Requirements:A passion for working with junior high students; Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics or a related field; previous classroom teaching or group experience with adolescents; previous experience with curriculum development and lesson planning around math strongly preferred; sensitivity to and understanding of the needs of students from low-income families and culturally diverse backgrounds. A Commitment to Outreach Community Ministries’ Statement of Mission and Faith is required. A current, valid IL driver’s license along with a good driving record is a plus.
