DePaul returned home for a three game series hosting Creighton. The Blue Demons swept the series. DePaul scored three runs in the first. Angela Scalzitti started the inning with a single. After Jessica Cothern walked, Brooke Johnson singled home the first run. Skylor Hilger and Gabby O'Riley each singled in another run. Kate Polucha hit a solo homer in the second to make it 4-0. In the bottom of the sixth, Scalzitti walked and Polucha followed with a single. Cothern laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners and Johnson reached on an error. Hilger singled to make it 6-0. Krista Dalgarn went the distance, striking out six, walking none and allowing only six hits. She improved to 10-2. In the second game, Johnson homered with Cothern on base to make it 2-0 after three innings. Nicole Sullivan hit a solo shot in the fourth to add a run. After Creighton scored one in the sixth, DePaul came right back. Sullivan doubled to score Hilger and make it 4-1. Natalie Halvorson pitched 5.2 innings, allowing three hits and two walks, while striking out eight. She upped her record to 6-4. Dalgarn earned the save by pitching the final 1.1 innings and allowing no runners, while striking out two. On Sunday, Creighton scored one in the first, but DePaul took the lead in the third. With Erin Hocker on base, Maranda Gutierrez homered. Creighton answered in the top of the fourth to tie it again. The Blue Demons exploded in the fourth with eight runs to seal the win. Grace Frazier hit into a fielder's choice, Scalzitti walked and Polucha singled to load the bases. Cothern singled to score Frazier. Scalzitti scored on a Johnson fielder's choice. Gutierrez walked to reload the bases. Hilger walked, forcing in Cothern. Johnson scored when O'Riley was hit by a pitch. Sulivan then cleared the bases with a grand slam. Dalgarn started and went 3.2 innings while surrendering six hits and two runs. Halvorson relieved Dalgarn in the bottom of the third inning and went 1.1 innings to earn the win and improve to 7-4 on the season. DePaul (19-9, 10-1 BIG EAST) remained undefeated at Cacciatore Stadium. The Blue Demons travel to Notre Dame for a single game Wednesday.
