Chicago Updates Coronavirus Emergency Travel Restrictions

CHICAGO — Vacationing to Wisconsin and Iowa no longer requires Chicagoans to either quarantine or have a negative coronavirus test under the city's updated travel restrictions. Those two states, along with Nevada and Tennessee, join 19 other states that have no more than 15 daily coronavirus cases per 100,000 residents as destinations that don't require travelers to abide by the city's coronavirus travel regulations. But visiting Oregon, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina and Puerto Rico have been added to the city's "orange" risk category for travelers, a designation requires people traveling to 26 states that have more than 15 daily coronavirus cases per 100,000 residents to either self-quarantine for 10 days or test negative for coronavirus three days before arriving in Chicago. Indiana also surpassed the minimum daily case limit, but public health officials have decided to wait two weeks before deciding whether to add travel requirements to Chicago's closest neighboring state. Asymptomatic travelers who have been fully vaccinated do not need to quarantine or receive negative test results upon returning to the city, according to the travel order.
