Description

EAGAN, MN— Beginning April 19, ISD 196 said it will stop providing free meals to the community. Instead, the district said it will focus on providing meals for in-person learners, who return to school four days per week beginning April 20. In-person learners will have access to free breakfast and lunch, as well as take-home meals for distance-learning days and weekends, the district said. Students enrolled in distance learning will have the option to pick up a free seven-day meal kit, the district said. The meal kits will become available April 21 to be picked up on Wednesdays from 10-11 a.m. at any secondary school within the district, the district said. If your family would like to pick up a meal kit, you must fill out this survey by April 16. You can find information on local food shelves and community meals here. Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimated that in 2020, more than 50 million Americans would not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations. Find out how you can donate in your community or find a food pantry near you.
