ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Health officials in Illinois are continuing to see an uptick in coronavirus cases across the state. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported Thursday 3,581 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 40 additional deaths. In Arlington Heights, cases have been rising for the last month after a drastic drop in cases to start 2021. As of Thursday, there have been 6,205 confirmed coronavirus-related cases in Arlington Heights, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That marks an increase of 131 cases since our last report on April 8. These numbers indicate an +76.5 percent change in confirmed cases over the last 14 days. The last death happened on March 27. The most deaths in a single day since the start of the outbreak was six on May 23, 2020. Of those, 468 patients were in the ICU and 190 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
