The Direct Support Professionals are responsible for the delivery of direct support services to adults in both Keshet’s Adult Community Day Services Program (GADOL) as well as our Residential Program (MY Life) in a manner that respects the person's needs as well as enhances their independence and dignity within their environment and community. Typical hours are M-F 8am-3:30pm. Residential Program (MY Life): Full and Part Time positions available. Typical shifts are daily 3pm-9pm, 9pm-9am(awake overnights), and weekends 9am-3pm. Keshet’s local leadership, comprised of nearly 100 lay leaders from all walks of life, provide the inspiration, direction, and funding required to fulfill the organization’s mission: to do whatever is necessary to allow individuals with disabilities to achieve their potential. About the Program: Keshet Adult Program DSPs provide support in our Adult Community Day Services Program (GADOL) as well as our Residential Program (MY Life). GADOL is designed to support and promote choice, independence, employment and meaningful days for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Community-based programming is paramount and activities include a balance of vocational/life skills training with the opportunity for socialization, recreation, and physical exercise to further increase participants overall quality of life. MY Life is designed to allow residents to become fully active members of the community in a warm and caring home that promotes independence and a meaningful life. After many years of planning, MY Life was specifically designed to allow individuals to succeed with the support they need. The program is located near employment opportunities, shopping, transportation, recreation, and places of worship. Staff work to provide appropriate support to enable community involvement among residents. Each resident has choices for participation in community activities. Just as all of us have choices in life, MY Life allows residents to have the same opportunities. Job Responsibilities: ● Provide a stable environment by promoting and attending to the individual’s right to respect and dignity, individual choice and input, and health and safety needs at all times. ● Support adults to achieve his/her desires and needs as outlined in their Personal Plan. ● Participate in the tracking of progress towards the individual’s Personal Plan outcomes by recording timely, consistent, and valid data. ● Communicate with co-workers throughout the work day and work as a team. ● Assist individuals with food prep, personal health and hygiene needs, banking, laundry, grocery shopping, purchasing of personal items and clothing, housekeeping, personal hygiene, recreation and other appropriate skills related to increased independent living and life skills while maintaining their privacy and dignity. ● Must be reliable and punctual in reporting for scheduled work. ● Apply interventions and use techniques learned during Keshet training in emergency and/or crisis situations. ● Be respectful and follow Jewish culture and guidelines set forth in the personnel manual. ● Complete DSP required training- CPR, First Aid, Safety Care, Rule 50, Fire Safety, Bloodborne Pathogens and continuing professional development assigned by Program Managers or Directors. ● Adhere to Keshet policies and procedures outlined in the policy manual, Employee Handbook, and other employee policies. ● Other job duties as assigned Qualifications Required: ● High school diploma or equivalent ● Must be at least 21 years old ● Valid Driver’s License Preferred: ● Experience with people with disabilities in the community or in a relevant field ● CPR and First Aid Certification ● DSP Training and Experience TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Comprehensive benefits package included with salary.
