CULVER CITY, CA — Culver City has a reputation and history of supporting arts and entertainment, but in the pandemic, these communities and organizations have taken a hit. As reopenings push forward, Culver City launched its virtual performance center featuring Culver City performing arts organizations. "The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all industries throughout the world, including the arts, the city announced. "As our community continues to recover and adjust to a new normal, the Culver City Economic Recovery Task Force and Cultural Affairs have collaborated on a Virtual Performance Center (VPC) to promote community arts organizations. The VPC will maintain visibility for local arts organizations while supporting the city's position as a cultural arts center and vibrant creative economy." Arts are an important area of recovery in the wake of the pandemic. "Cultural Arts are a valuable piece of our economic and emotional recovery during COVID-19," Culver City Mayor Alex Fisch said in a statement. "Despite our current challenges, Culver City remains a center for cultural innovation and is committed to promoting the extraordinary performances presented by our local arts organizations." The VPC will feature performances by the city's Performing Arts Grant Program recipients and other community arts organizations can also apply to perform in it. Arts organizations based in Culver City are invited to submit their virtual performances and apply for a "marketing sponsorship" for inclusion on the city's website, as well as other promotional assistance including social media posts and email blasts. Contact Elaine Warner, Economic Development Project Manager, for more information at (310) 253-5777 or email [email protected]. Visit the Virtual Performance Center.
