BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Everything is back to normal at the Beverly Hills Police Department after a bomb scare prompted a partial evacuation Monday night. At around 8 p.m. Monday, authorities learned of a possible explosive threat around Rexford Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard, near police headquarters and City Hall. Officers evacuated the building and searched for suspicious devices in nearby vehicles and at department headquarters, Lt. Max Subin told the Beverly Hills Courier. The scene was clear around 11:15 p.m., according to CBSLA. At around 12:30 a.m. a police spokesperson confirmed to CBSLA that no threat was discovered and the building was reopened. The police force is already on high alert in anticipation of the Derek Chauvin verdict. "With the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin nearing its conclusion, and the potential of increased demonstrations and protest activity across the country, the city of Beverly Hills is taking a proactive approach to ensure our community is safe," BHPD Chief Dominick Rivetti said in a video statement. "Beginning next week, the Beverly Hills Police Department will be on full alert throughout the residential and business districts. Additionally, other law enforcement personnel and a private security company will offer its support."
