Woman Dead, 3 People Injured In Angeles National Forest Crash

ALTADENA, CA — A Santa Barbara woman was killed and three people were injured, including an infant, when a vehicle went off a cliff in Big Tujunga Canyon and fell 100 feet, prompting a six-hour closure of the road. The deceased woman was identified as Dolores Palmerin, 46, according to Lt. David Smith of the Los Angeles County coroner's office. The vehicle went over the side of Big Tujunga Canyon Road in the Angeles National Forest north of Altadena at 6:45 p.m. Friday, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Firefighters at the scene treated two adults and one infant who were injured in the crash before they were airlifted by a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department helicopter to County-USC Medical Center. Palmerin was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner. She died from blunt force injuries and the death was ruled an accident. It was not clear what led to the crash. A Sigalert that was issued shortly after the crash was canceled at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol. —City News Service
