PHOENIX — Police officers already at the scene when a man was shot early Sunday morning were not able to save his life. The adult man, whose age wasn't released by police, was leaving an "establishment" in the 1600 block of East Southern Avenue in Phoenix's Southern Manor neighborhood at 12:39 a.m. when he was shot. Police "rendered aid," Phoenix Police Sgt. Ann Justus said in a news release, but the man was soon later pronounced dead by the Phoenix Fire Department. Arrests have not been made, and the identity of the fatal victim wasn't released as of 3 p.m. Sunday. The block where the shooting occurred includes multiple businesses, but police did not name the one where the man was shot. Phoenix police have asked anyone who knows anything about the fatal shooting to call the police department or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (480-TESTIGO for Spanish). This is a developing story.
