HOOVER, AL — Saturday, April 24 is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, and Hoover residents can participate by dropping off any unused prescription medications they may have in their homes. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Hoover residents can drop off potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs (over-the-counter pills will be accepted also) at Hoover City Hall. Liquids, needles or sharps will not be accepted — only pills or patches. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. Residents can quickly and conveniently drive around City Hall and drop off their items, and are asked to remain in their vehicles and let Hoover officers will assist. Nearly 100,000 pounds of unused medications were collected in Alabama in October's event.
