Domestic Altercation Leads To Deadly Birmingham Shooting

BIRMINGHAM, AL — One person is dead and another is in custody of the Birmingham PD after a shooting in east Birmingham Monday. The incident occurred at a resident at 3039 Chase lane just after 5 p.m. The deceased has been identified as Jermaine Demarico Johnson, 48, of Birmingham. Officer Truman Fitzgerald said the preliminary investigation suggests this was a domestic issue wherein a verbal altercation escalated into gunfire. The shooter remained on the scene and was taken in for questioning by Birmingham police. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Birmingham Police Department at 205-254-1764 .
