BIRMINGHAM, AL — A man convicted of murder who has been on the run since 2017 was captured in Birmingham Monday by U.S. Marshals. Maurice Nesbitt, convicted in the 2014 murder of his ex-girlfriend, was recently featured on "America's Most Wanted," according to an Alabama Media Group report. Nesbitt failed to show up for his final court appearance in the murder trial, and has been a fugitive from justice since 2017, according to the al.com report. Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Cliff LaBarge told al.com they received a tip from Crimestoppers of Nesbitt's whereabouts, and set up surveillance Monday morning outside a home in the 1200 block of 10th Avenue North in Birmingham. Nesbitt was found at a nearby residence and was taken into custody. Read the full report on Maurice Nesbitt's capture on al.com.
