Small forestry service in Southeast Vermont is hiring a forester/forestry technician at entry level for summer and perhaps long-term employment. We have plenty of work. Duties will include the full range of forest management with timber sale marking, preparation and supervision, boundary work, invasive plant control with herbicides, trails and roads, mapping and inventory, and plan preparation. 2-4 years of college in forestry required with skills in tree and plant ID, silviculture, forest measurements, GPS/Mapping will be helpful. I will train the right person to be one of the best. The best candidate will be: -Comfortable with learning, developing skills, and receiving/offering feedback -Dedicated to active stewardship of natural resources -Capable of hiking through fields and forests with moderate loads for a full work day -Comfortable working in all of Vermont’s weather conditions -Comfortable with handling herbicides while following all safety regulations -Have reliable transportation to travel to projects, mostly around Windsor, Windham and Rutland County, Vermont. -Communication/interpersonal skills and professional appearance.
