Looking for: a contract mail carrier out of Chugiak, AK. Position requires working 6 days a week. Job description: Arrive at Chugiak Post Office at 6:30am. Begin sorting and casing mail/packages at the post office. Next, load vehicle with the sorted mail and packages. Finally, drive the route delivering mail (to mailboxes) and packages (to doorstep). Finish time depends on experience/skill level and daily mail volume (which fluctuates from day to day and seasonally). Estimate is for the route to take about 4-6 hours per day depending upon mail volume. Also, position requires lots of picking up of mail and packages, moving of mail/packages, getting in and out of vehicle frequently, leaning to reach mailboxes to deliver mail and packages, etc. During the Christmas/Holiday season second trips will be required as needed, second trips, also the job may require up to 7 days a week of work during the holidays. Job Requirements: • 18 or older • Must have valid driver's license (no DUI's or license revocations in the last 5 years) • Be willing/capable to work independently • Drug free • Trustworthy and diligent in protecting the sanctity of the mail • Must be willing/able to lift/move up to 70lbs+ by yourself. • Must do a small amount of filing and office work to maintain list of deliveries, forwards, and mail on hold. • Must be comfortable and skilled with driving in snowy/icy conditions • Must be dependable and willing to follow all USPS regulations • Must have reliable transportation • Must have mid-size SUV or larger vehicle • Must be willing to use your own vehicle to deliver mail/packages with
