Salary: $20 - $25 an hour Job Type: Full-time Qualifications: US work authorization (Required) CDL (Preferred) Driver's License (Preferred) Full Job Description Department: Environmental Reports To: Drilling Operations Manager FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt Insurance Class: Weekly-Salary Staff WC Code: 6219 Drilling Personnel Type: Drilling Personnel SUMMARY: The Driller is responsible for the supervision of the crews that perform different tasks on drilling projects, making sure that the work of the crew follows all Company policies as well as enforcing rules regarding safety, client, and Company rules. The Driller must ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to drilling activities. A Driller must constantly maintain the equipment and accurately record the boring and well data. Most importantly, the Driller is responsible for the equipment and the safety of his crew members during all operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise and train crews. Introduces procedures to make drill work safer and more effective. Regularly supervises and directs the work of two or more other full-time employees. Ability to hire and fire, as well as discipline, employees they supervise. Maintain records of footage drilled, location and nature of strata penetrated, materials and tools used, services rendered, and time required. Maintain and adjust related equipment to ensure proper performance. Direct rig crews in drilling and other activities, such as setting up rigs to install boring and wells or to service wells. Monitor progress of drilling operations and select and change drill bits according to the nature of strata. Repair or replace defective parts of machinery, such as rotary drill rigs, water trucks, air compressors, and pumps. Position and prepare drilling equipment in suitable and safe locations. Verify one call for underground utilities and inspect for overhead utilities. Plug observation wells and restore sites. Use hand tools to post-hole, set forms, and mix and pour concrete, install wellhead completions. Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to drilling activities. Provide communication to the client/on-site supervisor. Assists with the collection of labeling and storing of samples. Responsible for safety and productivity of drilling staff. Ensure proper clearance from energy sources. Ensure stability and location of drilling equipment onsite. Take steps for remediation, including adding chemicals and repairing equipment. Monitor wells, record measurements, and observe the site. Participate in safety programs. Operate machinery to drill and install wells. Use mapping and sonar instruments to identify where to place wells. Clean heavy equipment as scheduled. Perform daily safety and maintenance checks. Maintain a clean and presentable workplace. Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner. Store heavy equipment safely and securely. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: At least two years operating drilling equipment. Active CDL drivers license. Motor vehicle driving record that is consistent with Company and insurance carrier standards and policies. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test. Must be able to wear required PPE. Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, and climb ladders for extended periods of time. Able to travel to all job sites during all phases of a project. Able to perform heavy lifting; minimum 50 pounds. WORK CONDITIONS Ability to work outside year-round in all types of weather conditions. Available to work extended hours as required by project schedules, weather conditions or urgent circumstances. MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS: Depending on an individual’s job duties, the Company may require an individual to complete a medical examination. Persons, whom the Company wishes to hire, will receive a conditional offer of employment contingent on the successful completion of background checks, drug/alcohol test, medical examination and positive report of their fitness to perform the duties required for this position. CDL REGULATIONS: To be considered for employment as a CDL driver for Talon/LPE, Ltd. (Talon), and to comply with the terms of fulfilling a “Safety Sensitive” position under FMCSA and PHMSA, each potential driver must meet all the requirements as indicated in the DOT FMCSA regulations to include, but not limited to: 1. Registering on the FMCSA Clearinghouse 2. Consenting to Talon conducting a query in the FMCSA Clearinghouse 3. Obtaining a clear Drug & Alcohol report from the Clearinghouse 4. Completing Driver Application as is required in the FMCSA 5. Providing information on employers for the previous three years prior to employment in order to complete DOT mandated “Inquiry to Previous Employers: Safety Performance History Records” and having no record of safety, drug, or alcohol infractions 6. Providing a current CDL license with verification 7. Having a current and valid Medical Examiners Certificate attached to their CDL E-VERIFY AND RIGHT TO WORK Talon/LPE participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States.
