Join Althea's Earth Day Sunday Gathering with a special blessing by Danny Stange, music with Michael Stanwood, and Birds of Prey! Join Althea Center for Engaged Spirituality for our indoor Earth Day Sunday Gathering! When: Sunday, April 25th, 10:30 - 11:30 am *Doors will open at 10:15 am We will have a special message & blessing with Danny Stange. Musical guest: Didjeridu, Michael Stanwood. Special guest appearances by Birds of Prey with a "meet & greet" after our Gathering. Enjoy complimentary coffee and tea in our courtyard after our Sunday Gathering too! Daniel Stange Danny Stange is a Colorado native and has over twenty years experience of direct involvement with Indigenous Mexican art and philosophy. He has designed curriculums to teach the Aztec/Mayan calendar systems and seeks to integrate native beliefs into our education system. Most of the advances in human society over the last 200 years have been through great influences in the natural worldview that Native American societies have imparted. Danny works in local community development and believes strongly in the Promotora de Salud model. socue.org Michael Stanwood Stanwood is a five-time winner of Westword's Best of Denver for everything from his recordings to his performances. He has composed scores for dance, theater, and film as well as for three critically acclaimed recordings. He has produced multi-media events for The Denver Zoo (Animal Communiqué) and The Denver Museum of Nature and Science (The Circle of Life). He has toured throughout Southeast Asia as a musical goodwill ambassador for the U.S. Information Service. He now plays a variety of ethnic instruments like the didjeridu, the Thai khaen, and the mbira, as well as the guitar. First Place winner in the 2012 International Autoharp Championship, he is considered one of the finest autoharp players in America today, and he has played that instrument with orchestras and solo....as well as with numerous bands. He also leads the highly acclaimed Buzz Band, a group of nine musicians who play ethnic instruments. His recently released CDs, Arc of a Buzz and Portal, have received rave reviews. michaelstanwood.com Birds of Prey Foundation For over 35 years, we have helped injured and orphaned raptors recover, adjust to our modern environment, and enjoy healthy, productive, free lives. Since 1981 the Birds of Prey Foundation has accepted over 16,000 birds. Specialized round-the-clock care and large flight areas enable hundreds of these magnificent raptors to enjoy a second chance at freedom every year. Bird Species We Help The Birds of Prey Foundation specializes in raptors such as eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, and osprey.
