Position: Seasonal Grounds Keeper for Port of Bellingham Pay: $15-hourly Duration: 6 month seasonal position available. Work Hours: 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. May move to a 4/10 schedule in the summer. Application Process: Please visit www.portofbellingham.com/jobs. The Port of Bellingham is looking for full time seasonal grounds workers. Duties include routine and/or repetitive tasks related to the care of turf, trees, and shrubs and other general tasks as assigned. This position performs grounds maintenance such as planting, pruning, weeding, seeding, and irrigation. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: • Mow turf areas to meet demands, usage, growth, weather, and availability of equipment. • Perform seeding, aeration, and irrigation tasks using knowledge of horticulture and under the general direction of Maintenance Supervisor or other permanent staff. • Perform a variety of entry level work activities in the care of trees and turf areas and in the care of shrubs and shrub bed areas to include pruning, edging, irrigation, weeding, planting, and debris removal. • Operate power equipment and hand tools necessary in the care of trees and shrubs such as chain saws, hydraulic pruning equipment, bow saws, loppers, chippers, sweepers, blowers, etc. • Maintain necessary tools by cleaning, routine maintenance and proper storage. • Rake leaves as required seasonally. • Clean buildings and structures, empty trash containers and pick up litter.
