Kahumoku Kanikapila - Santa Cruz Slack Key Show Presents ALL AGES George Kahumoku, Jr. Slack Key Guitar & Ukulele Workshops and Kanikapila. Lunch available from the Holopono Food Truck! Join us for a fun-filled day of Hawaiian Music with lessons taught by Grammy Award winner and Hawaii's Renaissance Man, George Kahumoku, Jr. Followed by a Hawaiian Style Kanikapila (Play/ Sing-a-long) and lunch available from the Holopono Food Truck. This event will be held outdoors at the Roaring Camp: Bret Harte Hall in Felton, CA. We will be observing social distancing and all participants are required to wear a face covering. SCHEDULE AS FOLLOWS: 11-11:50 AM Slack Key Guitar Workshop Join Grammy-winning slack key guitar player George Kahumoku, Jr. in this revealing and informative lesson as he guides the students through a class in Taro Patch F slack key guitar tuning. George gives lessons in scales, bar chords, turnarounds & modulating. 12-12:50 PM Slack Key Ukulele Workshop George Kahumoku, Jr., Hawaii’s Renaissance Man, introduces you to Slack Key ‘Ukulele. Starting with the basics, George touches on the ‘ukulele and its accessories and then turns to the primary tuning in Slack Key C and the appropriate picking patterns, basic chords, and chord shapings. 1-2:00 PM Lunch Break Lunch available from the Holopono Food Truck. A Santa Cruz based Food Truck that serves traditional Hawaiian-Style pupus, poke, plate lunches, and more! Generally in the Santa Cruz area but we also serve the Monterey, Seaside, and Carmel areas as well!
