Job Description In your role as the Warehouse Team Member, Receiving at The North West Company International (NWCI), you will receive and unload container shipments, check all goods received according to established company procedures, and record, label, and move freight to designated warehouse areas. You will also complete designated paperwork and prepare water stores (shipment) for pickup. Your Role: Receive and unload vans of groceries and general merchandise; Check all received freight for damage and count according to company procedures; report damage, shortages, overages, and other discrepancies to immediate supervisor; Offload pallets, properly securing freight on pallets, move freight to the appropriate designated areas of the warehouse, operating forklift as required; Maintain all areas in and around the warehouse in a neat, clean and safe working condition; Prepare freight for water stores for pick-up on Mondays and Tuesdays; Perform all other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Operations Manager. Desired Skills & Experience: Ability to learn warehouse operations, including receiving, unloading, transferring and retrieving products; Frequent lifting and moving crates, boxes, equipment and furniture weighing up to 70lbs; Must be able to follow specific instructions and safety procedures, including safety rules of forklift operation; High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; One year warehouse experience preferred. Will provide equipment and safety training; Extensive forklift experience required; Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to and other employees of the organization; Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance; Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions; Ability to operate computer systems proficiently to operate Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, inventory software and order processing systems; Able to accurately type 40 WPM; Able to operate 10-key by touch, phone, fax, copier, etc.; Operates sit-down and stand-up forklift, uses hand-truck, pallet jack, motors, stock selector, and standard safety equipment.
