One-on-one Art Sessions with Kids of All Ages
Kids
1301 J Street, Arcata CA
Description
Hi there! My name is Hannah, and I am an artist, a mother, and an experienced childcare provider. I am excited to offer one-on-one art sessions with kids of all ages. That can look like tactile engagement with toddlers, prompts and exploration with "big" kids, or mentorship and supporting technique for tweens and teens. Folks tell me I am excellent at providing a warm, welcoming, encouraging atmosphere that inspires exploration and playfulness. Qualifications: I have a BA in Practice of Art from UC Berkeley with a focus on participatory art, and I have years of experience running community art spaces, kids art camps and kids art programs. I also have worked for many years as a nanny to big and small families. Last and definitely not least, I am a mama to a six-year old creative fairy. In these art sessions, I'm happy to offer explorations and support in mixed media, painting, drawing, collage, play-doh, clay (I can have ceramic pieces fired), hand sewing, free-form weaving, natural dye, writing, videography, theatrical pieces, book arts, sculpture, etc. I'd be happy to meet at my art studio or at the nearby Stuart Park for a free 20-minute meet-and-greet with parent and child to feel out if we'd be a good fit for each other. From there, if we want, we can come up with a recurring schedule that suits your family's needs and my availability. Pricing is sliding scale, $50-20 per hour. All art materials will be provided. I am happy for sessions to take place in my art studio located in The Creative Sanctuary in Arcata, at my home which is on the same block, or in my garden, as weather permits. We can be fluid between those settings, or if you're more comfortable with one or the other, you can pick one that we will stick with. Sometimes, my six-year old daughter may be present if it seems appropriate for your child's age and interests. We can discuss this further at our meet-and-greet. I have received full Covid vaccination for my work as a caregiver. I prefer that we do not wear masks when in session together, although I am flexible.
