Experienced Farm Manager – Live-in Opportunity at Farm We provide cost-free living in historic Brookville! Full Time - 35 Flexible hrs/wk (Salary $55-60K) Share your love of fresh air and sunshine along with a passion for animals, farming and gardening to create a holistic farm experience. AHRC’s Wheatley Farms is seeking a self-motivated, experienced live-in farming professional who will provide on-site management of a therapeutic farm, including care of livestock such as horses, goats, sheep, chickens & rabbits. You will ensure safe and effective day-to day operation of the farm, facilitating farm-related activities for the Day Habilitation program onsite which supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Here, we offer you: · Cost-free living in beautiful historic Brookville · Competitive salary · Low-cost high-quality benefits package · Employee Recognition – you’ll be appreciated!! · A diverse, inclusive team · Opportunities for you to advance your career · Wellness incentives – weight loss, yoga at work, gym membership · College loan forgiveness · Cell phone discounts · Cost-free boarding for your horse in our stables You will be responsible for: · Daily care of animals including feeding, grooming, maintaining stables, hutches, coops etc. · Knowledge of latest farming/livestock trends. · Working with Day Habilitation participants and training program staff/participants. · Managing volunteer staff in performing farm related activities. · Coordinating and facilitating veterinarian visits Qualifications: · Formal education in farm management or minimum of 3 years’ experience operating a farm, marketing and processing of farm products and livestock. · Experience with strategic planning and community partnership development. · Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work without direct supervision. · Strong interpersonal skills. · Ability to lift up to 65 lbs and work in all weather conditions · Qualified NYS driver’s license · Ability to be On call for emergencies Preferred: · Background in agribusiness including experience with productive farming of cultivated areas including soil prep, planting, and harvesting. · Experience with animal assisted activities, outdoor education.
