BEWARE of scammers claiming to have German Shep pups, one male and one female! The story they're giving is they had 5 pups, but only have 2 left due to high demand. They'll have images of the pups and AKC paperwork readily available to show you, will tell you the pups have a clean bill of health, have had first-round of shots, and are potty trained. Rehoming fee they threw at me was $300 (which probably should've been the first red flag.) They'll require a $100 deposit via PayPal (sent using the friends and family option. In retrospect, another red flag) to hold the pup of your choice. They're operating off of text-only numbers (which I didn't realize until it was time to pick up the pup) and will ghost you come your designated pick-up day. However, they will answer to other numbers. My husband text them while we were waiting to pick up the pup (literally minutes after I text them letting them we were outside of their *home *more on that here in a bit*) and provide the same story: Had five, only have 2 now. As of this morning (4/18) they had another listing posted early in the am with very similar listing points, but since alerting PayPal, the listing has been removed. I should also note that between 15-20 minutes after hanging up with PP, I received a text back from them asking, Hello r u there ? I'm assuming PP shut them down. Going back to the home address they provided as mentioned above: It was a S. Charlotte address in a gorgeous neighborhood. Clearly not their home. Not sure if they're issuing the same address to everyone or playing address roulette and giving out a different one to each unsuspecting person. Either way, it's creepy! My husband also went looking on the CL in surrounding areas and they have ads posted there as well! Good luck out there, y'all. Be vigilant AND QUESTION EVERYTHING. These scammers are legit everywhere, and they're as shameless as ever.
