Description

The IAFF Center of Excellence will be hosting a free, behavioral health training for fire fighters, paramedics and dispatchers. Join the IAFF Center of Excellence team for a continuing education training for peer supporters looking to expand their knowledge about behavioral health issues in the fire service. This training will navigate work-life balance, stress management, anxiety and other common behavioral health issues that fire service members may face in their lives and career. We will address the correlation between increased stress and decreased mental well-being and also highlight strategies to reduce such stress and increase relaxation to benefit holistic wellness on a daily basis. Mindfulness and methods for implementation will be one of the highlighted tools, particularly as it relates to the importance of establishing a work-life balance in an ever-changing, high-stress occupational environment. Participation in this training will provide attendees with increased insight on the importance of addressing accumulated stress and implementing healthy habits to mitigate increased risk of behavioral health issues such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress. Training will take begin at 10 AM PST at the United Firefighters of Los Angeles City Headquarters. Complimentary lunch and certificates of attendance will be provided. Seating is limited, so all attendees must register to participate.
