Description
Please read the post entirely before reaching out. This handsome guy is Archie. He is a 3yr 55lb Shepherd mix. He is DNA tested and any breed with the word Shepherd or Collie in it, he has it, but mostly Australian Shepherd and Australian Cattle dog. We usually just say he's Shepherd's Pie. Archie is an exceptional dog who is incredibly smart. He needs a home that has a yard and preferably a job to do so a ranch or a farm of some sort would be ideal. He catches balls and frisbees in the air and knows tons of tricks and can learn them within a few minutes, never disappointing. He is crate, leash and house trained. Up to date on all shots as well as microchipped and neutered. Why are we rehoming him you might be wondering?Archie is very anxious (less so when he's been properly exercised) but still a very anxious fellow. He has a hard wiring need to protect his pack. He HIGHLY prefers that pack be limited to just himself and you. His anxiety comes out as aggression to strangers or anyone coming into your home so he'd need to be put away when guests are over. That being said, a single person with property is going to be the best situation for him to thrive and succeed. FULL DISCLOSURE -He has a history of attacking other dogs that are in our home. When we walk him and others approach, he makes it known to them that he is not to be touched. Please keep this in mind when we meet. We know the steps needed to break that barrier with you so you'll need to be patient on the first meeting. He doesn't forget a face so the following meetup will be much better. We are requiring 2 meetups before you take him home with you. Don't get me wrong, this boy needs lots of love and cuddles too. He's a sensitive guy so don't be too hard on him. My household consists of myself, my husband, 3 other dogs, a 14 month old son and a 12 week old daughter. This is the opposite of an ideal home for him. He's my baby and i love him but he's far outworn his welcome in this house with my husband. He has brought up euthanasia too many times for my comfort. I KNOW there is someone out here that needs Archie as much as he needs them. I'm posting this because I'm trying to find you. Please reach out soon. Thank you, Jae & Archie
