Help tuning my drum kit

Hello, I purchased a used, but mint condition, Mapex 15th anniversary limited edition drum set about a year ago. Ideally, I'd like a nicer kit, but this one was affordable. I bought all new REMO ambassador coated double ply batter heads and left the original resonant heads on, which are Aquarian classic clear heads. I have tried for a year with hours of tweaking the kit, and I can't not get it to sound good. I have watched endless videos on Youtube and tried every method mentioned. Is there anyone out there that might have some pointers and/or would be willing to take a look at my kit? I could move the thing outside due to COVID. Thank you
