Description
To the person(s) claiming democrats are responsible for Jim crow, slavery, etc, care to include a bit on the evolution of the parties in your lecture? In the 50s and especially 60s, democrats threw a ton of support behind the civil rights movement, and the racists left the party. The KKK mostly endorsed republican candidates from the 1960s on. Democrats and Republicans essentially switched stances on social issues in the civil rights era.
Socially and racially conservative white southern democrats were a big thing before the 1960s, and then that changed. But by all means, team-sport politics your way into believing everyone democrat ever is evil and everyone repub ever is a goddam saint. You cherry pick your facts to paint a picture where "rational people" couldn't possibly support democrats, then scratch your head when election results don't line up with the fantasy.
Here's an idea: all hyper-partisanship and blind party support is toxic and will destroy this country far quicker and more fully than "the bad guys on the other team" ever possibly could.
