Cat Found in Newark - Passed Away

I am writing with a heavy heart to say that I found a cat who had passed away by the side of the road near the Christina Mills apartment complex at the intersection of 100 Christina Mills Dr and Elkton Rd. It looked well cared for, and was a brown tabby with a white underbelly, similar to the one shown in the picture. Because cats can travel relatively far, it could have come from any of the nearby neighborhoods, particularly the Casho Mill Rd, Chrysler Ave, or W Park Place neighborhoods. It looked like it had passed away relatively recently, sometime on April 17 or 18. Unfortunately Newark Animal Control and Delaware Animal Services (who I called to pick it up) do not check to see if cats who have died are microchipped or make any attempt to find the owner of the animal. I am hopeful that should somebody have lost their pet, they will check area message boards including Craigslist. If this cat belonged to you, I am so sorry to be the bearer of bad news, and so sorry for your loss.
