I woke up, staring at the empty spot on your side of the bed. I closed my eyes and thought about the contours of your face. How perfect your face is. Your thick black eyebrows, perfectly shaped but uncombed. Your mile long top and bottom eyelashes intertwined. Like our hearts once were. I knew you would be gone before it got good. I knew neither of us could overcome the feelings that always arise. The last few nights we spent together, I’m glad I consciously remind myself, “take this all in.” You taught me how to love someone unconditionally. I’ll always love you. -B
