Mission Helicopter visit
One of our helicopters will be traveling past the Tyler area in late April on the way to visit LeTourneau University. I am writing to see if Southside Baptist might be interested in us visiting with the helicopter and doing some short rides for church members. This would be a time for people to meet a couple of our missionary pilots and to see one of our mission helicopters up close. This same type of helicopter is what we use to support church planting and Bible translation in remote villages in the countries of the Philippines, Brazil, and soon-to-be Papua New Guinea.
We usually do 10-minute rides and we just charge enough to cover a portion of the operating cost of the helicopter; $15 per person. Including time to load and unload people, we can give rides to 16 people per hour.
Our purposes are first to meet people whom God may call into missions, specifically into missionary aviation to support church planting. Secondly, we are looking for opportunities to get our helicopter pilot more flight experience before he heads back to Brazil in July. He is already a great pilot, and events like this can serve to further hone his skills as he prepares to serve back in his home country of Brazil.
In Christ,
Daren Spence
International Chief Pilot
