PET SCAMMERS FT. CRAIGSLIST

Austin TX

Description

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING! THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE WAS COPIED FOR INFORMATION ON WHATS REALLY HAPPENING ALL OVR CRAIGSLIST BOARDS (San Antonio’s pets selection because the same is happening here in Austin.) The easiest way to avoid getting taken advantage of is simple.....if you can’t see or hold the puppy, don’t hand over any cash. NEVER give upfront money. Scammers typically: Don’t want to talk on the phone. Don’t want to FaceTime. Are typically out of town Most have bad grammar (but not all) Ask you for a code to confirm you’re real. That will keep you safe 99% of the time. NO PUPPY NO MONEY Please help me out by ⭐️ this post. It makes it a lot harder for these thieves to flag this ad. Scams: CASHAPP scam: Asking for a deposit with an app. Then they discontinue all communication with you. They’ll tell you things like ‘this is the last pup and everybody’s texting me for him’ they’ll try to make you desperate. They’ll also say “put a small deposit on the puppy to confirm you want to buy” Don’t fall for it. SHIPPING scam: They’ll say they’re not in town but they have all the paperwork to confirm that the puppy will be shipped to you. It’s a SCAM. If it’s not local don’t fall for it. PHISHING scam: They’ll have an email on the post asking for your number or to contact them to that email. They’ll typically have only one photo of the cutest puppy you’ve ever seen. The photo is more than likely from Instagram or google and I believe it’s a phishing scam or trying to collect your information to sell it to scammers. CODE TO CONFIRM YOU’RE REALscam: Scammer’s will say they’re ready to buy whatever you’re selling but want proof that you’re a real person. They’ll say they’re gonna send you a code and to text that code back to them. Scammers need to be able to post ads. If Craigslist thinks their accounts are fishy or they’re posting too often they’ll ask for a phone number to be linked to the Craigslist account. When the Craigslist system asks to confirm your account by linking a number it’ll ask for your number and once you input it it’ll text you a confirmation code that needs to be inputted to complete the confirmation. They don’t have hundreds of numbers and they can’t use fake app numbers. So they’ll enter YOUR number on Craigslist and Craigslist will then send you that text with the code. As soon as you give them that code, they can complete the confirmation and your number is linked to their Craigslist account they’ve created to scam people and they can continue posting ads.
