Description
A week of plant-based events - Forest Bathing, Tai Chi, Meditation, Pop-Up Garden Lunch and a Live Concert for the PLANTS! If you are like us, the spirit of Earth Day is a part of your everyday. You might opt to walk or ride your bike instead of driving, bring your own bags, support organic farmers, buy local products, make your own cleaning products, grow food, or volunteer at a local community garden ;) Or, maybe you are just starting your shift to earth-friendly practices. Fortunately, we live in a world where there are increasingly more opportunities to make an impact, big or small. At SCGP we strive to provide workshops, classes and events that encourage symbiosis with the earth and all living things. We are presenting a week full of people-loving-plants activities for everyone to celebrate. We would love for you to join us!Unless otherwise indicated, all events are offered free/donation-based, so please give what you can to support our urban food forest & loving community. We rely on your support to keep us all growing! Donations can be made here on Eventbrite, or in person at events :) MON 4/19 - FOREST BATHING at Morikami Park* / 12 - 12:30pm Forest bathing has nothing to do with your swimsuit! It is an ancient practice of intentional immersion in forests to engage all your senses, calm your mind and body, and deeply reconnect with Nature. Pine trees emit compounds proven in scientific studies to have psychological and physiological benefits of stress reduction and boosted immunity. Join us for a guided forest bath! DM or email us for directions if you need them! *This event is at the Morikami Park but not inside the Japanese gardens, which are closed Mondays. We will be meeting outside the fenced Japanese garden. As you approach the last stop sign before main museum parking lot, turn LEFT (west) into the woods. You’ll see a couple park buildings on your right and parking just beyond. Location: 4000 Morikami Park Rd, Delray Beach, FL 33446 TUE 4/20 - SLOW BEAUTY CLUB at SCGP / 6:30-7:30pmDelicate can be powerful, too! This week is all about power of the flowers. Tropical herbalist Jules @thegardenerjules will teach us how to make magical, energetic plant medicine from bio-regional handmade flower essences. DM Jules or email her [email protected] for more info - $5 donation to cover special equipment costs. WED 4/21 - LIVE CONCERT FOR THE PLANTS at SCGP* / 7-7:30pm Plants can perceive light, scent, touch, wind, even gravity, and are able to respond to sounds, too. Do they prefer Bach or Beethoven? Nobody knows! What we do know is that we love our plants and everything is energy. Join us for a live classical concert for the plants of our food forest, in honor of the sensory intelligence, beauty, and grace of all living things, especially our humble and resilient plant friends.
