Fake Catholics Among Us

Description

The word fake is defined as “something that is not real or genuine.” For the last six years five of us got together for a remote fly in fishing/hunting trip. Our group includes one Baptist, two Catholics, a Priest and Bishop. We all came together in 2012 through a volunteer project and have socialized ever since. We call this our “Man Time.” During our Man Week we spend the evenings talking about, families, local government, our community, politics, our life experiences, and current news interests. Last September the conversations were heavy on politics. One evening we started discussing religion and politics. I was always told by my parents that a Catholic would NEVER speak bad about another Catholic. I found this to be quite true over the years through hanging around with my Catholic friends. I almost fell off my log when I heard the Priest and Bishop refer to life long Catholic politicians as “Fake Catholics.” The discussion centered around abortion, Planned Parenthood, LGBQT lifestyle, the diminished value of Christianity in the homes, schools, and communities, the lack of humility by our leaders, lust for political power, wealth, and the “WOKE Community.” The Bishop called this perpetual sin. He explained it as sin past, present and future. He exampled abortion and a person who supports abortion through his/her acts and deeds is judged for abortions in the past, abortions today and abortions in the future, through their acknowledgement or support for the Mortal Sin of taking of human life. He went on to say this MORTAL sin is equal to a person who commits the abortion, a political contribution to abortion, a vote for a political party who endorses abortion, and/or contributes or makes available the opportunities for abortion. I know nothing about confession, so I am only using his explanation without any of my interpretations. He exclaimed that when a Catholic comes into confession they are seeking forgiveness and repentance. He said Repentance is a especially important part of confession; however, to repent is asking for forgiveness for sin past or present. He said you cannot repent or ask forgiveness for sin future – support for abortion is also sin future. The priest and Bishop then went on to the LGBQT and WOKE community, who they believe are marginalizing the Christian faith, and church relevance within their respective communities. I was shocked to hear them talk about their sacred practice of Confession, repentance, sincerity of the true Catholic, purgatory and the Lord’s judgement. When I asked about candidate Biden, Honorable Pelosi, Honorable Schumer, …………. His response was “They are Fake Catholics.” I could not believe he said that. I asked if he believed the Catholic Church overall believes they are fake Catholics. His very verbose response is summed up as it is not his responsibility to judge, that is up to God, he does not judge a parishioner sincerity at confession. But among Catholic leaders there is a reserved understanding that there is no place in Purgatory for them as they are Mortal Sinners. The Church tolerates them, we do not judge them. He went on to say if you apply scripture to their actions and deeds, they are Fake Catholics who will never enjoy eternity in the Kingdom of Heaven. They went on and on about Mortal sin vs. Venial sin. Pelosi made the remark “who cares about statues,” when many of them that were torn down during riots last summer were our sacred saints. One of the last things the Bishop said was “Look at them:” We are supposed to strive to be like Christ. Christ was humble – where is their humility. They are arrogant, mean spirited, vindictive, manipulative, conspiring power hungry people. These are more like the vendors and Jewish leaders Christ threw out of the Temple than the twelve disciples who followed him. The more the Bishop talked the more I could feel the intense belief of his convictions. He went on to a detailed comparison between people like the Mother Teresa, Little Sisters of the Poor, Honorable Brett Kavanaugh, Honorable Amy Coney Barret and Candidate Biden, Honorable Schumer and Honorable Pelosi. In closing he remarked that while Mother Teresa, Little Sisters of the Poor, Kavanaugh and Barret strived to live a life of humility, and to live by scripture, the latter three strived to destroy the true followers of God’s word. Biden, Schumer and Pelosi are at a minimum, a tool for Satan. Compare these people lives and ask yourself which one most reflect a life truly dedicated to the principals of Catholic doctrine. He gave many more comparisons like thee. It has now been six months since our fishing/hunting trip. I can not get this discussion out of my mind. I wonder why the Catholic Church does not share the priest and Bishop’s opinions with parishioners at Mass, if felt throughout the church,. I now look at our national leaders in a quite different light. As a Baptist I see our politics and the diminished values/respect of Christianity as a sign of the latter days of mankind for which we have no control. I am not sure what the Catholic Church foresees in our National Leaders but through their tolerance and silence have unquestionably sanctioned their actions which are in direct contradiction to their faith.
