Description
It's really simple; The cop screwed up. The footage showed the the cop yelled "Show me your hands!" and the kid did. They were empty. Even though the kid properly responded to the cop's demands, the cop fired anyway.
It doesn't matter the kid's age, his past, his personal issues, or what he was doing out at 3am. He may have had a gun, and he may have used it earlier somewhere. But at the point of his death... he responded to the cop's demands and was not a threat. The cop should not have shot. Why call for the kid to 'show his hands' if you're going to shoot anyway?
We shouldn't be defunding the police. We need to retrain the police. We need a police force to enforce the laws; not a para-military group of macho men.
