STRAIGHT FROM CRAIGSLIST - Here is a partial list of goods, services, and content prohibited on craigslist: pet sales (re-homing with small adoption fee ok), animal parts, stud service AGAIN... PET SALES (re-homing with small adoption fee ok), animal parts, stud service JOIN the Veterinary Community by helping to eliminate the greed and inhumane treatment of animals! FLAG all puppy sales and sales for profit of dogs. Legitimate REHOMING of not-for-profit dogs is okay. Veterinary Advise RE: Buying DOGS on Craigslist *It is ILLEGAL to sell dogs younger than 8 weeks - so many dogs listed are much younger. *MANY of these dogs are very sick and will just bring you heartache and cost money for treatment. *MANY/MOST of the dogs posted on Craigslist are not well socialized - a poorly socialized dog makes a terrible pet. *BULLDOGS that appear for sale on Craigslist are some of the most unhealthy dogs that have ever been bred. *SMALL breed dogs (Maltese’s, Maltipoos, Poodles, Yorkies, Chihuahuas, etc.) found on Craigslist are some of the sickest dogs that are offered for sale. Many die shortly after purchase. Heartbreaking! *Craigslist sellers often don’t know/don’t care about what they are selling. The often sell dogs that claim to be a certain breed there are a far cry from that breed. Pit bulls being sold as Mastiffs, Malamutes sold as Huskys, mixed Bulldogs sold as English Bulldogs, mixed breeds sold as purebreds, etc. *FAKE AKC/other papers are common when buying dogs on Craigslist. Don’t be fooled by fake vaccination records! *Crazy high prices for poorly bred dogs. *“Designer” mixed breed dogs are just mutts. Mutts are wonderful dogs, but they are mutts and should not cost $$$. *Most “Designer” mixed breeds are ridiculous. Enough of the various Doodles!...and who ever thought a BassettPug was a good idea?!! *FEW legitimate breeders sell on Craigslist. *If you are looking for a healthy well bred legitimate dog, find a legitimate breeder! If you want a great pet, adopt from a shelter or legitimate rescue!!!
