POSITION SUMMARY: Installs fabricated countertops in both occupied and unoccupied homes, apartments, or commercial facilities by using hand and powered tools. Accurately measures, fabricates, and install custom solid surface, granite and quartz countertops with the safe and efficient use of vehicles, tools, equipment and time. Responsible for training Apprentices and Helpers in the trade of installation techniques such as cutting, polishing, mitering granite while in the field. Completes projects on time and budget. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Operates vehicle to install site • Delivers countertop from vehicle to installation location, usually on foot, carrying the items to be installed. • Countertops are carried in tandem with helper using lift process including: carts, or hand grips. • Seams are applied when required to ensure proper fit. • Back splashes are sometimes cut to final size on site by using power saws. • Minor repairs to countertop finish, if required. • Performs other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED) 2. Must have experience in all phases of countertop installation. Must have minimum two (2) years’ experience as helper 3. Ability to follow prescribed programs and standard operating procedures 4. Possess the ability to read technical drawings, specifications, blueprints. Read orders and install tops from the descriptions given 5. Possess the ability to operate precision measuring tools and equipment, including power tools 6. Must be able to safely lift 50+lbs 7. Ability to safely operate all tools and equipment in the shop and on the installation truck 8. Cultivate and maintain good customer relations 9. Work independently in the field 10. Must have good communication skills 11. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 12. Must be willing to travel as required. 13. Must have own hand tools, truck and trailer. 14. Must have reliable transportation (truck and trailer) and tools, including hand tools and generator 15. Must possess a valid Drivers License, and clear driving record
