I am more than just a beat keeper. I have excellent timing and rhythm, am always in the pocket but I like to fill in wherever possible with different rolls and changes without ruining the integrity of the song or upstaging the other members of the band. I'm capable of playing all types of music and have been told many times by other band members that they enjoy playing with me because my meter is excellent and they can feel me when I play, which makes me easy to follow and play with. I have played with several bands and dozens of musicians over the past 50 plus years. I am retired, no maintenance, no drama, no attitude, easy to get along with and I can be as mellow and soft as need be or I can rock the house down if that's what is called for. I have also been involved with several praise teams playing popular Contemporary Christian music over the past 18 plus years. I am a product of the Rock & Roll era and cut my teeth on music by Cream, The Doors, The Who, The Stones, The Allman Brothers, Hendrix and all of the other bands from that era. Ginger Baker was my first influence and I copied his style in my younger days. Since then I have been influenced by all of the great drummers of the rock era that followed him and use a combination of all of their styles to have created my own. I am familiar with and have played thousands of songs during my music career and have the ability to learn new songs very quickly. I have played hundreds of gigs at all types of venues and I am comfortable playing in any environment. I currently play with a band that plays classic rock, blues, R&B, Motown, funk and popular songs from the 50's through today’s music with a list of over 100 songs, but as a result of recent circumstances, I don’t believe that we will continue as a group very much longer. I play and do my exercises on a regular basis to maintain my speed and dexterity and also because I thoroughly enjoy playing and have a lifelong love for music and my instrument. I have a Roland electronic kit for the intimate gigs and a Tama Superstar Classic acoustic kit with 7 shells and 8 cymbals, which I keep perfectly tuned at all times. To compliment my two kits, I also have a complete microphone system, powered monitor, chimes, woodblock, cowbells, triangle, shaker, kabasa, rain stick, drum pad, Cajon, and bongos along with a full assortment of sticks, brushes and mallets giving me the ability to produce pretty much any sound needed. I am also very adept at playing to a click track if it is needed or required. If you think I may be a possible fit with your band, I would love to have the opportunity to audition with your group.
