C&J Excavating is hiring Heavy Equipment Operators with a Class A CDL to operate a variety of contractor equipment and trucks used in construction, maintenance and repair activities and perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of grading, utility systems, roads, street and storm drainage systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Safely and effectively operate heavy construction equipment on a grading or utility construction site • Operate construction or power equipment, such as, but not limited to hydraulic excavator, backhoe, bulldozer, roller, road grader, front-end loader, and skid steers • Operates jackhammers and other small equipment and power tools • Ability to shoot grades, accurately layout structures for projects • Read plans / blueprints to identify grades, slopes, structures, pipes, elevations • Must be familiar with these areas of safety: shoring, slope cut, equipment, temporary steel sheet placements on road, etc. • Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment daily • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards • Troubleshoot unexpected conditions and create corrective plans to remedy the situation • Must be able to meet schedule and budget requirements assigned to job • May be required to work unexpected overtime • All other duties as assigned Requirements: • 2+ years of recent experience working as a Heavy Equipment Operator • Proven safe, experience operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators and other heavy equipment found on a construction site • An active Washington State Class A Commercial Driver's License is REQUIRED • Physically able to dig, help with excavation and other labor as needed • Able to pass drug and background checks, and maintain a clean driving record • Verifiable references • Reliable transportation and phone Skills • Strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to detail • Actively promotes and personally observes safety/security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly • Ability to listen and follow directions • Physical stamina • Positive attitude and good decision making skills • Able to work independently or as an active member of a team C & J Excavating has competitive pay, generous paid leave benefits, health care plan and IRA employer sponsored % match. 193 Savannah Lane - off of Carlsborg Rd.
