Have you ever been intrigued by film photography? This class removes the mystery and will get you photographing with film cameras fast. Have you ever been intrigued by film photography? Do you have a 35mm type of film camera lying around, wondering what to do with it? Are you just interested in knowing more about the process involved? Join us for a class all about your options for using a film camera, selecting film stock, and how to get your photos from a film canister to a printed work of art. Leave with a roll of film to get you started, Topics Covered: We'll look at the different cameras and formats available, with a focus on 35mm film cameras. A comparison of different film types will be a part of this class so you know how to select your first roll of film. We'll discuss why and how film is different than digital photography, and why film is still a valid form of photography today. We'll look at the process involved in the average person picking up a film camera for the first time to getting a roll of film developed and a photo printed. We'll have time for an extended conversation on film photography where we can answer any questions you might have in order to get you confident to go out and photograph a roll of film.You'll be given a roll of 35mm film to get you started! Ask questions on-site about how to load the film and get going. Who Should Take This Class? This is for beginners who have never looked at film photography before, or for people coming back to it after a long time. It's great for those looking to add film photography to their artistic pursuits, and for those looking to differentiate themselves in the fine art portrait photography field. A basic understanding of photography is recommended, including knowledge of how to adjust a camera manually using the shutter and aperture. Required Materials - A working 35mm film camera of your choice. Participants will still enjoy the information about film photography without having a camera on hand, but you're encouraged to bring yours in order to ask questions and get started photographing right away. *Attendees will be invited to the Rockbrook Camera EDU Facebook Group for continued education, conversation and community exclusive to Rockbrook Camera EDU students and instructors.
