Description
Create a cute & simple beach bag using 1/2 yard of fabric! Are you hunting for a simple sewing project to break in your new sewing machine? Want an easy way to get back in the "groove" of stitching? This 1/2 yard beach bag is the perfect project for just that! I will guide you through the process of using a rotary cutter to cut your 1/2 yard of fabric to the dimensions outlined in the cutting guide. We will also cover the steps required to attach lining and stabilizer to the decorative fabric you've chosen. Pockets and straps will also be included to complete this adorable & simple-to-sew tote bag. Basic knowledge of threading & using a sewing machine is required. If you are unsure, please attend one of our sewing 101 workshops. Use a sewing machine provided by MakerSpace, or bring your own! Please let us know if you will be bringing your own sewing machine when prompted during the checkout process. Guests are responsible for bringing 1/2 yard of cotton fabric and a spool of thread to class. MakerSpace will supply lining fabric & stabilizer to complete the project. Provided lining will be available in black or white. Please keep this in mind when choosing your fabric! If you would like to bring your own lining fabric, you certainly can. We will need 1/2 yard. Each guest will leave with a completed beach bag. They are perfect for keeping your project pieces together or use an easy overnight tote or gift bag. Guests will also be provided with a cutting guide and written instruction to create as many totes as they like in the future! "Spring into Sewing with this Beach Bag!" is taught by Tess, of Fabled Fabrications. A props, accessories, & costume company she started with her boyfriend, Joey. The goal of Fabled Fabrications is to work with nerdy groups & individuals to bring their epic fantasy scenarios to life. They currently work with LARPs (Live action role play) to create immersive settings, garb, and characters that bring the fantasy storyline to the next level. Tess could be described theatre geek gone rogue. She has been creating characters and functional art for as long as she can remember. She learned to sew & crochet from her mother in her early teens, and has since used those skills to create costumes for plays & holidays, and personalized gifts for her friends & family. Her repertoire has expanded to include clay & paper mache sculpting, leatherwork, & a bit of graphic design. Tess believes that anything and everything is figureoutable when you put your mind to it, & there is no reason not to live out your nerdy dreams to the fullest! Minors are welcome to attend, though they must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. No additional ticket needed. Not recommended for children under 14 years of age.
