Description

Seeking volunteers to help with the Disney Wilderness Preserve Native Plant Garden. The Nature Conservancy's Disney Wilderness Preserve has a wonderful native pollinator garden surrounding the side of the front office building that is in need of some work to make it as beautiful and inviting as it once was. This "garden reboot" is a project that SCA intern, Katie, decided to take on during her time at the preserve and she needs help to make her vision become a reality! If you are interested in volunteering to do some garden work with us, please consider registering for this volunteer work day .  Volunteers must register to participate, wear closed toed shoes and a mask covering their nose and mouth, bring their own water, snacks, work gloves, sunglasses and, bug and sun protection. The group will meet at the welcome center at 9:30am. All other equipment will be provided by The Nature Conservancy.  When: Saturdays, May 1, May 15, and June 5, 9:30am-12:30pm Where: Disney Wilderness Preserve May 1: We will be working to tear out some old plants to make room for the new. We also will be working to revamp our rain barrels and clean out their downpipes to get them functioning again. They also may be in need of a fresh coat of paint! May 15: This day will be dedicated to weeding out the garden and spreading fertilizer and tilling. This is an important step in order to prepare the soil with nitrogen for our plants and to prepare the garden for our next step of planting. June 5: The third and final volunteer day will consist of planting new plants!
