Meet Winnie! Winnie is a 1.5 year old miniature sheltie looking for a new home. We’ve had Winnie for about a year, and have unfortunately come to a point where we can no longer care for her. She’s a very lovable and loyal pup, but needs a dedicated owner with the resources to give her the life she deserves. Winnie suffers from severe fear/anxiety and reactivity, we believe it’s due to trauma in her first few months of life. Although she’s made great progress over the year we’ve had her, she still needs a lot of help. She possesses regular reactivity towards strangers, including barking and lunging. We’ve worked with a trainer who is confident that with the proper environment, Winnie will be a great dog! She loves hiking, playing frisbee, going to the beach, and cuddling! Who we’re looking for: We’re looking for a dedicated individual who has the time and space to give Winnie a successful life. Our difficulty with keeping her was that we’re both working college students, we have very busy schedules and currently can’t afford a space with a yard for her. We felt we were leaving her alone and bored for too many hours of the day, and was only perpetuating her anxiety. With that, Winnie would thrive in an environment with an open space and an active owner, she will chase a frisbee for hours and hike with you endlessly! We’d really prefer an experienced dog owner, especially if you have experience with fearful/reactive dogs. Winnie is an absolute sweetheart at home, we are devastated to be giving her up, but have realized that she deserves a better life than we’re capable of giving her. We’re not looking for compensation for her, just looking for the right owner to give this lovable pup a great life!
