Not to brag, but myself, along with many of my friends who perform at open mics, are just bubbling over with talent. Some of us could put the guy complaining about open mics to shame with our playing and singing abilities. but many of us do not want to become "professional," or "full-time" musicians scraping around for low-paying gig. the OPEN MIC gives us the opportunity to showcase our talents without all the BS. who gets paid for what, and whether or not the open mic is taking a job away from a musician (which is doubtful) means nothing to us. we just want to play, enjoy sharing our music with each other and our friends, and just generally have a good time. i laugh at the fool who doesn't think we have the right or ability to do that. I wish i knew who he was (i have a couple of good ideas), because i would organize an open mic anyplace he thinks he could get a gig. amateurs will not be silenced by fools.
