Description

I'm installing a S-35 block ice maker from Cline Equipment Co. and they've indicated I'll need a licensed HVAC technician. Specs on installing this ice maker are as follows (from their website): This install was designed to be as simple as possible. Once the machine is uncrated you will notice two separate sets of copper protruding from the cabinet. Each set consists of a 5/8” copper line and a 3/8” copper line. Each set controls respectively the front or back half of the cold plates. To begin installation you will need the following material: · 3/8”, ½”, 5/8”, and 7/8” Copper and fittings · 3/8” x 3/8” x ½” tee · 5/8” x 5/8” x 7/8” tee · Fittings for a 7/8” P-trap · ½” drier · (2) ½” sight glass. Installation 1. The cold plates are pulled into a vacuum at the factory. Release the vacuum in the cabinet, and prepare all four line sets to be soldered. 2. Remove the service valves and caps attached to the lines. 3. Run nitrogen through the lines while soldering the fittings to prevent carbon build up in the lines from fouling the orifices in the condenser motor. 4. Tie both 3/8” lines into the 3/8” x 3/8” x ½” tee that must be centered between the lines. 5. Run your ½” line from the tee into its respective connection on the condensing unit. Install a sight glass on the ½” line near the block freezer for easy visibility. Also, install a sight glass and drier near the condensing unit. 6. Tie both 5/8” lines from the machine into the 5/8” x 5/8” x 7/8” tee 7. Tie the 7/8” line into the tee. Add a P-trap as close to the freezer as possible and run 7/8” line to its respective connection on the condensing unit. Insulate the suction lines. 8. Supply proper power (requires 220V, 20Amp) to the condensing unit, and charge with 404A refrigerant. a. The amount of refrigerant needed will depend on the length of your line set. b. Fill the unit to a full sight glass. The unit is cycled off the low pressure switch installed in the condensing unit. It should be set to cut out at -12 to -15 degrees suction pressure temperature (or 18lbs) with a 25lb differential. The unit would arrive in about 4 weeks. If this is what you do, please get back with me. Thanks!
