My name is Robert and I'm working to develop a campaign encouraging the public to fish in local waterways in the hopes of growing Austin's environmental consciousness, raising awareness about the problem of water pollution, and helping shift our city away from its reliance on unsustainable fisheries. I became concerned with the sustainability of the commercial fishing industry years ago and decided to only eat fish I caught myself. I'm also worried about the pollution in our local streams and lakes. I've seen an increase in pollution over the years in local waterways. Since owning and maintaining a boat is expensive and inaccessible to most Austinites, I'm looking for a local boat builder or someone with knowledge in engineering to assist me in designing an affordable and easily constructible DIY fishing boat for my upcoming campaign to help Austin "Fish Local".
